Getting To Know Us

The Country Mercantile is family owned and operated by Jay and Janece Wood since 1996.  They began as a small produce stand offering seasonal fruits and vegetables.  Today you will find an amazing selection of the Northwest’s finest gourmet foods and most decadent handmade chocolates and fudge.  Their latest construction in 2002 tripled the size of the store to what it is today.  Jay and Jancece are pleased to provide quality goods and services to the Columbia Basin, and to all those who travel interstate 395. The Country Mercantile has become a staple for the Tri-Cities, and is recognized as having the Northwest’s finest gourmet foods. Jay is quite possibly the hardest working man you will ever come to meet. He has had his hands deep in farming since he returned from his LDS mission in his early twenties.  He has fathered five, wonderful children with much credit given to his beautiful wife Janece. This multifaceted man has one speed, and inspires his audience to work much harder in life. Janece, a graduate of Brigham Young University has perfected the demanding task of homemaker, and has placed the capitol “M” in Motherhood! She has tirelessly provided for the needs of her children. Most would stop for a breather once all children leave the home, but she has continued to give to her six precious grandchildren. Together they have enjoyed watching the Country Mercantile’s growth, and the opportunities it affords the members of the community. Holiday seasons are always special for the Wood family. They enjoy their family gathering together, but also enjoy how this special place, The Country Mercantile, brings people together.

My girlfriend and I were traveling from Eugene back to our homes in Wisconsin after spending a wonderful week at our National Specialty Dog Show for Mastiffs.

I had driven up from Eugene and was in desperate need of a break. I saw your signs and we stopped in to discover your wonderful store. Aside from Cherries and apples, I purchased some of your fine chocolate.

But for me with the limited amount of time we had and I on my diet; I purchased the Mad Max Flip ’n Dip and the Trout Dip. Everything was absolutely delicious, but the Mad Max dips were a one of a kind out of this world experience.

Unfortunately, I’m in Wisconsin and you in Washington. If you can figure out a way to get me more of Trout Dip/Salmon Dip and Flip ’n Dip, please let me know. I could become addicted to the dips and your oversized praline turtles..Yummo!

Truly a great spot to stop!
